Executive Officer
CMS has been tasked by one of our valued members to recruit an exceptional and experienced Executive Officer to oversee and manage their organisation which provides supported accommodation for homeless families or families at risk of homelessness.
This role presents the opportunity for a person with a high level of management experience to contribute significantly to ensure that high quality and cost-effective services to their client's organisation.
This a Fulltime position with competitive salary with some flexibilities.
The desired applicant will:
- Have more than three (3) years management experience in the community/housing/human services industry or similar.
- Have strong 'people skills' and ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in positive change management with an ability to lead and motivate staff.
- Be passionate about providing quality services and support to both external and internal clients.
- Highly developed verbal, written, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively communicate, liaise with and influence stakeholders.
- Take initiative and think creatively to ensure the future financial sustainability of the organisation.
- Have high degree of reporting and administrative skills,
The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:
- The management of the day-to-day financial and administrative business activities of the organisation including risk management, workplace health and safety, asset management plans, budgeting.
- Staff supervision, coaching and mentoring that develops individuals and creates effective teams including leading, engaging and developing a high performing team to achieve operational goals.
- Reporting to funding bodies such as: P2i, CHAFFR, Using SHIP, Community Housing & Crisis Accommodation Reporting, ACNC.
- Employing high level problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills, and being comfortable handling challenging situations and people in a dynamic environment.
- Working both independently and in group situations and managing a diversity of tasks while being able to adapt to varied circumstances and deadlines.
- Ongoing maintenance of current knowledge of the issues contributing to the experience of homelessness (relevant housing legislation, trends in the housing sector and the impact and consequences of cultural differences) and application of this knowledge in developing and delivering client services.
- Using personal experience in the housing sector to work with vulnerable communities in a client centred environment, including applying a sound understanding and application of Strengths Based, Trauma Informed and Recovery Oriented, practice.
- Demonstrating extensive knowledge and strong understanding of Queensland Residential Tenancy Legislation, housing specific issues relevant to vulnerable client cohorts, and the ability to work.
- Applying experience from working in the Homelessness Sector or associated fields, including knowledge of Queensland Residential Tenancy Authority (RTA) Legislation.
- Consulting with Family Support staff to ensure appropriate and ongoing maintenance of administrative data relating to asset management and property maintenance.
- Representing the organisation in the public domain including inter-agency meetings and relevant events, and, on occasion with Family Support staff and or Management Board members.
- Attending the regular Management Board meetings and presenting a report outlining relevant information and points of interest and/or concerns.
- Maintaining government and non-government networks.
- Undertaking approved professional development and staff training.
