Social Development Inc. (SDI) is a not-for-profit incorporated association registered entity for Ismaili community in Australia, New Zealand and PNG. Its key objectives are to endeavour to improve the quality of life of its beneficiaries in the areas of education, health, social welfare, housing, economic welfare, and humanitarian assistance. Included in these are activities dedicated to the development of women, youth and the elderly and activities related to culture, sports.
SDI is seeking an Executive Officer who will work closely with the Council for ANZ to enable/support/realize the achievement of the National Council’s mandate. The Executive Officer is responsible for directing the Council’s administrative and programme staff, and driving the implementation of its programmes and activities to achieve its strategic goals, and with the goal of making the Council an organization that applies best practices in all aspects of its work. He/ she oversees the interface between the volunteers and staff, and manages its operations and any related legal entity’s administrative/financial functions.
This is an identified position and is to be filled by an Ismaili person as a genuine occupation requirement in accordance with section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Some Key responsibilities:
· Accountable for the short and long-term planning, organization, management, implementation, control and administration of the Council’s operation in keeping with the direction from the Department of Jamati Institutions.
· Oversee the annual budget process and manage financial resources within budgetary guidelines and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
· Ensure that the National Council fulfills its constitutional, regulatory and legal obligations, while taking appropriate steps to identify and mitigate potential risk areas.
· Monitor performance of all activities governed by the National Council to ensure activities are aligned to achievement of approved objectives, are on schedule and within the approved budget.
· Prepare regular and annual reports for the National Council as well as technical papers, proposal and other reports as directed by the Council.
You will have:
· A tertiary qualification from a recognized university, preferably in management, business administration or related field.
· 7-10 years of experience in management preferably in a large/medium size organization and or/non-profit environment.
· the skills and maturity to lead the Council’s professional and volunteer staff and, when required to represent the Council in various national and international forum.
· Familiarity with and empathy for the cultural diversity within the community.
· Deep sense of responsibility, sound judgment and discretion.
· Ability to build strong, supportive and collaborative working relationships with internal team members, the leaders and members of stakeholder organizations.
· A proven track record in developing, managing and enhancing risk & compliance frameworks.
· Strong leadership skills with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
