Experience Gold Coast

On 1 September 2023, HOTA joined Experience Gold Coast, a super entity which combines HOTA, Study Gold Coast, Destination Gold Coast, Placemakers* and Major Events Gold Coast in an exciting new chapter. This will see the city’s tourism, events, education, arts and culture portfolios working as one organisation focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for the city. 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Exhibitions and Collections Manager, the Exhibitions Project Manager supports the delivery of HOTA Gallery’s diverse and exciting program. Working with a wide range of institutions and individuals, the Exhibitions Project Manager is responsible for the coordination, management and delivery of high-quality exhibitions, collection displays and related projects at HOTA.

You will be responsible for leading the project team to ensure delivery to brief, on time and budget, whilst building strong and beneficial relationships with stakeholders, such as partnering galleries, museums, organisations and artist representatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the successful delivery of temporary exhibitions and displays, touring exhibitions and special projects.
  • Ensuring all aspects of exhibitions and displays are delivered for the audience.
  • Leading project teams ensuring that projects are delivered to brief, on time and budget with the resources provided.
  • Building strong, proactive and beneficial relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as partnering galleries. museums, organisations and artist representatives.
  • Preparing and monitoring each exhibition’s critical path, risk register and managing budgets to ensure exhibitions are completed on time and to budget.
  • Undertaking planning, budgeting, production and resourcing requirements for each exhibition/project under the guidance of the Head of Gallery Operations.
  • Liaising closely with all tour partners on the practical arrangements for each allocated exhibition, including but not limited to design liaison, loan negotiation, contracts and agreements, condition checking, packing, transport, indemnity and insurance, couriers and installation.
  • Contributing to developments that support HOTA’s strategy for widening access, inclusion and diversity.
  • Other duties as requested commensurate with the level of the position.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Gallery or museum environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in visual art, curatorship and / or museum studies.
  • Experience managing a public building and infrastructure.
  • Significant knowledge of gallery operations and experience in working with the National Standards of Australian Museums and Galleries.
  • Current QLD Police check (or willingness to obtain).
