EXPERIENCED BARISTA
The duties of this role include preparing and serving well-crafted specialty coffee for espresso, filter, cold brew as well as specialty tea, matcha and other beverages. The ideal candidate will also have strong abilities working with milk and performing latte art.
Barista duties and responsibilities
As a front-of-house employee, the Barista represents the brand and the culture of Good Fella Coffee and always provides our patrons with professional and friendly service. The Barista role requires extensive knowledge of coffee beans, blends, and their origins. A strong understanding of flavour profiles subsequent to the varieties of coffee and should also know how to operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders and filter systems comfortably. The Barista will be in direct contact with customers and patrons throughout the working day, so it is important for the Barista to have excellent customer service skills and to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere at all times.
Their duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Grinding, brewing and extracting coffee
• Cleaning and maintaining the espresso machine, grinders and associated coffee tools
• Dialing in coffee beans using Anfim grinders regularly during service
• Developing and maintaining expert knowledge of coffee and educating patrons and colleagues about these coffees
• Consistently providing well-crafted, beautifully presented, and tasty beverages
• Taking customer orders and receiving payment
• Speaking and interacting with both new and regular customers
• Building relationships with patrons, staff and stakeholders
• Maintaining a clean and sanitised working environment
• Following health and safety guidelines
• Regularly performing stock checks in the coffee department and placing new orders where required
• Following recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
• Being aware of and following operational policies and procedures
• Being punctual and maintaining regular and consistent attendance
• The ability to work flexible hours and shifts which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays
• Contributing to a positive work environment
• Can do attitude with a passion for coffee and an eagerness to stay up-to-day with the latest coffee trends
· Barista skills and qualifications
At least 1 year experience in specialty coffee preferably working in high volume Cafés
Other key skills required include but are not limited to:
• Punctuality and regular attendance
• Attention to detail
• Physical stamina
• The ability to communicate effectively and work together with others in a team under pressure and a fast paced service environment
• The ability to remain calm under pressure especially during peak hours
• Basic knowledge of computers, especially with the point of sale system
• Excellent customer service and the ability to make clients feel special
