With a focus on civil engineering aspects of substation and lines infrastructure, this role will deliver work as an SME in technical aspects of design delivery such as functional and detailed design, equipment selection, construction and commissioning (including installation, testing and operation). Other aspects of the role will include engineering site investigation, substation site selection, bulk earthwork & substation platform design, substation internal & peripheral drainage design, access road design, design of trench, pit, bund, firewall and structure foundations, as well as interfacing with other technical disciplines such as telecommunication.

As an experienced automation engineer, you will have:

• A qualified Civil/Structural Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience in civil design, electrical equipment and network configuration
• Experience in structural design (poles, towers, gantries and substation equipment stands) for power transmission projects
• Experience in designing civil works (earthworks, foundations and concrete works, drainage and pavements) for large infrastructure developments, including use of AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Previous proven experience in leading geotechnical investigations for impactful civil works projects.
• Well-developed analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
• An understanding of high voltage networks, regulations and the National Electricity Market's requirements for establishing new connections will be an advantage
• Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia
