Reporting to the General Manager - Discovery we are seeking an experienced Exploration Manager to direct the exploration team to increase the Company's Reserve and Resource base through the discovery, extension and delineation of economic, high value gold deposits that meet the company's strategic objectives. To achieve these objectives the role will be responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and technical oversights to the exploration team, on projects within Eastern Australia. This role is offered on a permanent basis and will be based at our regional Townsville exploration office, with travel to the regional exploration project sites on an as need basis.
Key Responsibilities
Broadly, your key responsibilities will include:
Support the GM - Discovery to set, and sustain, the performance expectations, behaviors, and desired excellence culture of the exploration team.
Be an effective managerial leader for the exploration team, ensure optimum work performance, collegiate interactions with other geological staff and contractors, and execution of effective exploration work programs.
Deliver on the Company strategy through setting sound exploration business plan's and group objectives.
Manage project and team resources and deploy appropriately to deliver on the plan in the pursuit of economic discoveries within existing projects.
Embed sound targeting and ranking of projects within the team's process of exploration, capturing the technical rationale to support justification for exploration work programs and prioritize the exploration investment to maximize the probability of economic discoveries.
Identify and develop opportunities aligned to the Company strategy, through monitoring of competitor properties and tenement holdings within active project areas of interest.
Demonstrate and encourage a culture where our people take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others, the environment and care for country.

About yourself
The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive exploration experience, including proven experience in effective Greenfields gold exploration.
Demonstrated managerial leadership skills and experience and be able to engage a diverse and highly skilled workforce to achieve exploration business plans.
Demonstrated technical geological proficiencies, for the management of exploration projects ranging from early-stage generative through to advanced projects and concept studies.
Exposure to resource estimation and economic evaluation.
A sound understanding of Health, Safety, Environment and Community (Heritage) legislative, regulatory, and operational requirements related to exploration and mining.
An ability to recognise key exploration and business risk issues and develop appropriate management strategies to manage these risks is required.
Knowledgeable in commercial and legal dealing and agreements used by exploration and mining.
Experience in a exploration leadership position with demonstrated experience with progressing successful exploration programs from start to finish.
BSc (Honours) or MSc degree in Geology or a related geoscientific discipline.
AusIMM or AIG membership, as required by JORC
