The Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will guarantee Perth's future water needs for generations to come.
To reduce our dependence on rainfall and groundwater and support the growing population, Water Corporation has formed the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, which includes ACCIONA Construction Australia.
The Alliance will design, construct, operate and maintain the Plant which will produce 50 billion litres of drinking water per year, with provision to expand by an additional 50 billion litres per year in the future. Having already constructed 89 desalination plants worldwide, ACCIONA is a pioneer and the global leader in the sustainable desalination sector.
Construction of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will commence over the coming months and the project is expected to be completed in 2029. We are putting out this Expression of Interest to suitably experienced Project Engineers who would like to register their interest for upcoming opportunities on this landmark project.
Reporting to a Senior Project Engineer, you will ensure the effective coordination and control of Electrical Engineering Works for the Project through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement, and quality control.
Key accountabilities for the position:
- Ensure site specific management plans are implemented.
- Be accountable for documentation flow between Engineers, Site Supervisors, Consultants, Subcontractors and the Project.
- Maintain and monitor the progress of work.
- Advise the Senior Project Engineer of significant changes and proposed remedial action.
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Review and recommend to the Senior Project Engineer, subcontractor and supplier progress payments including variations and cost recoveries.
- Monitor and implement safety charter.
- Supervise and coordinate resource allocation.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor Degree (Engineering).
- Ability to read and develop single line diagrams.
- Experience in automation systems, such as PLC and SCADA.
- Understanding of instrumentation and interaction with automation system.
- Experience commissioning LV electrical power and control systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to problem solve.
- Understanding of all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Competent in planning and organising work schedules with working knowledge of HS&E requirements.
- Well-developed communication skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of subcontractors, local authorities, internal staff and clients.
