The diversity of skills, life experiences and perspectives within our team enhances our way of working and our ability to achieve success together.About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are currently looking for a Project Engineer - Electrical & Control Systems to join the Gudai-Darri Project Readiness & Delivery team to support the mine and processing facilities with its future expansion plans.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute at a tactical level to the project management, controls, and reporting processes while supporting the senior staff at the site and the study teams in Perth. The role will suit motivated and self-starting individuals who can apply their knowledge of industry standards and best practice to ensure operational excellence can be achieved for the current assets and the future expansion of the site. The responsibilities of the role will allow the individual to grow their skill set with the support of a diverse team around them.Reporting to the Superintendent Project Readiness, your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Site-based project management and implementation of varying key growth enabling projects
  • Developing project justifications including scoping, planning, and scheduling
  • Managing contractors to execute works on-site
  • Apply Project Engineering fundamentals, including providing input into engineering processes and documents such as scope of works, design reviews & hazard assessments
  • Managing and monitoring project documentation to the required company standards
  • Assisting the project leads in cost estimation and control
  • Ensuring that projects are adhering to quality standards and safety protocols
  • Foster strong relationships with all partners in the project stages
  • Assisting the operation with long-term capital portfolio development
  • Facilitate contractor meetings for project deliverables on-site
  • Working with the various internal stakeholders in the transfer of knowledge and learnings from the operational and maintenance teams
  • Providing input into the studies, feeding lessons learned into the definitive engineering design of the future assets
  • Being a point of contact on-site for Project Readiness & Delivery activities and assisting with queries from the D&T, EPCM, and Study team.
This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out roster working 8 days on, 6 days off, flying out of Perth or Busselton, Western Australia. Flexibility to work in Perth when required.About you
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Electrical Engineering and or Control and Instrumentation degree or equivalent
  • Foster strong relationships with all partners in the project stages
  • Minimum 3+ years fixed plant or heavy industry experience in an engineering and/or projects role
  • Australian “C” Class manual drivers’ license
  • Proven ability to plan and manage project-based work with a keen eye for detail.
  • Solid working knowledge of industry standards and work procedures/guidelines
  • Willingness to investigate and understand issues and recommend actions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop a rapport with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high functioning team
  • A knack for thinking about how the parts of a system and project work together
  • Using systematic approaches to analysing problems, recording findings, and documenting them to inform future decisions.
  • Experience in overseeing contractors within a management system framework is highly desirable
  • Experience in Project Engineering within a brownfields mining context is highly desirable

It will also become a new production hub for our iron ore business, incorporating a processing plant and infrastructure including a 166-kilometre rail line connecting the mine to our existing network.Gudai-Darri will also create jobs and business opportunities in Western Australia, including for Traditional Owners and Indigenous people.
