Job Description Summary Service Stream is calling out to any interested parties to join the – Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate water and wastewater Treatment Plants according to operations and maintenance manuals and guidelines. Water treatment operations are 24hr per day 7 days per week.
- Perform process sampling and jar testing on water and wastewater treatment streams to identify water quality and optimize plant operations
- Perform instrument calibrations and provide calibration reports in Service Stream’s business management system
- Perform daily housekeeping on assigned Treatment Plant sites
- Access, monitor and perform SCADA operations to ensure plant optimization and adequate response to alarms to avoid plant downtime and/or risk to consumers.
- Perform basic maintenance activities on dosing pumps, pipework, valves, and other varied mechanical devices as necessary to ensure plant availability.
- Raise work order requests for maintenance tasks as required using company business management system: JAMS
- Provide operational support during periods of emergency and severe weather conditions as needed via responding to alarms and operating plants and maintaining treatment availability
- Active involvement in ensuring the highest standard of safety is maintained, always enforced and adhered to by all stakeholders attending site.
- Actively participate and support the company’s continuous improvement activities, policies and procedures ensuring your activities reflect the company’s Environment and Quality Management Systems.
- Support the management of the day-to-day operation of Treatment Plant and collection system including but not limited to timely and accurate reporting, management of customer complaints and service interruptions, contractor management, schedule works to maximise productivity and minimise resources and cost.
- Liaise with the Senior Treatment Plant Operator or their designee, to ensure operations and commercial risks are identified and effectively managed.
- On Call and weekend work will be required on a rotational basis
- Work with other members in a polite, pleasant and constructive manner and to be part of a small team
- Coordinate repairs of electrical and mechanical faults with internal trades people and external contractors
To be successful in this role you must be willing to enrol and complete a Certificate IV Water Industry Treatment qualification, which is an Industry standard. Ongoing training and support will be provided during the undertaking of your daily tasks and throughout your Cert IV training.
Qualifications – Desirable and Essential
- Cert III or other recognized study and training in any field - Essential
- A full Australian Drivers Licence – Essential
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade – Desirable
- Experience in Operation of Treatment and/or Process plants
- Knowledge of Treatment Plants – Operations & Maintenance requirements,
- mechanical and electrical equipment, control systems, testing and record maintenance.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
- Knowledge of sewerage pump stations and collection systems – Operations and maintenance requirements, managing customer issues.
- Ability to complete treatment process onsite laboratory analyses.
- Working knowledge in the use of MS Suite of applications, Excel etc., and Asset Management systems.
- Practical and Theoretical knowledge of SCADA Control Systems.
- Experienced in working to strict quality systems.
