Bird's Silos and Shelters is a proud, second-generation family owned business that was established in 1973 as a mixed farming enterprise in the Wheatbelt WA. Nowadays Bird’s Silos and Shelters manufacture quality Australian grain silos, sheep and cattle feeders and dome shelters in Popanyinning in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.

We’re looking for a dedicated and talented Fabricator / Welder who has a strong work ethic, wants to be a part of a great team with an industry leading and innovative company.

While prior experience is favourable it is not required. There will be plenty of training provided, as well as support from the rest of the team. So if you're looking to expand your skill set, you've come to the right place!

For the right person, this role offers the opportunity to work both autonomously and in a team environment in a role that involves physical labour, personal interaction, and attention to detail.

• Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal stock
• Cutting metal sections and shapes using hand tools and metal cutting machines
• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes by hand and machine
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools
• Accurate marking and cutting sheet metal and pipe
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting
• Finishing and cleaning products

And here’s what we require from you:

• Competent in the use of hand and power tools
• Ability to work as part of a team while having the skills to work unsupervised
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Contactable references
• Police clearance

Things that aren’t necessary, but will be viewed favourably:

• AQF Cert Ill including 2 years on the job training or
• At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications
• Ability to interpret and fabricate products from engineering drawings
• Mig welding skills
