FACILITY PLANT MANAGER

FRUIT & VEGETABLE PACKING OPERATION

 North Queensland Fresh Pty Ltd require a competent person to lead and supervise the activities of our Packing Shed team in a full-time position as a Facility Plant Manager. This is a very busy operation situated in Gumlu which is 45 mins north of Bowen, North Queensland and the person appointed would be required to demonstrate a capacity for high energy input and commitment to the position.  This position entails organising, controlling, and coordinating the strategic and operational management of the packing facility to ensure the proper and efficient operation of all physical aspects of the packing shed, to create and sustain safe and productive environments for occupants.  Ideally the successful applicant will also be able to clearly demonstrate:

 • Knowledge of fruit & vegetable industry with particular emphasis on packing                 operation, managing the shed floor on a day to day basis and ensuring the coldrooms are operating correctly.  You also need to ensure that the logistics supervisor has the product in a timely fashion and to a quality standard to ensure all product can be delivered in full and on time in addition to liaising with the post-harvest operations manager to predetermine daily and weekly objectives

• Experience in fruit & vegetables (capsicums, rockmelons, honeydew, mango) and comprehensive packhouse management to ensure all produce is packed to specification, efficiently and without compromising quality.  You must supervise the quality control of the produce being packed to ensure it meets the requirements of the packing instruction.  You will also be responsible for liaising with our growers and farm managers to ensure the smooth delivery of fresh produce for packing.

• Extensive experience managing 100+ staff and organisational skills for a busy team performing various tasks is required.  You must be able to lead a team who manage the operation efficiently and always ensure you always maintain a high standard of work practices.  This includes assisting to oversee the procurement of temporary labour, consumables, freight and other services required to take the produce from the farms through the supply chain to our customers.

• Must have an understanding and commitment to HACCP, SQF and Freshcare quality    protocols as well as hygiene and product safety.  You must operate the traceability management systems and processes provided by management to ensure the shed floor is being run at cost effectively as possible without compromising on the quality output that we provide to our customer base and suggest improvements to the system. You are also required to assist the post-harvest operations manager in supervising the staff engaged in quality control, residue limit monitoring, and protocol requirements for all markets, and especially export markets. You must ensure that the protocol and MRL requirements advised by Quality Assurance Team and customer requirements set by marketing are implemented in the packing and logistics process, especially traceability, labelling and other documentation.

• Assist in the development of plans for the refurbishment, maintenance and continuous improvement of the assets

• Assist in the management of relationships (personal and contractual) with external service providers, growers, and other stakeholders

• Provide input into project cost-analysis and budget preparation

• Assist the Quality Assurance Officer in the completion of all quality system documentation

• A knowledge of the AQIS (export) and ICA (interstate) requirements.

• Knowledge of the MAF Roda grading machines is required.

• Follow Occupation Health & Safety Policies/Procedures and help ensure all packing shed staff comply with occupational health and safety, and quality assurance requirements

• Must have necessary chemical accreditations, current first aid certificate and drivers licence

• General knowledge of computer operations such as Microsoft Word and Excel
