As a small business owner, Family Day Care Educators work under an approved Family Day Care service provider in their local area. We areFamily Day Care Australia (FDCA), the national peak body for Family Day Care. For over 30 years, we have supported, represented, and promoted over 400 childcare services and 9000 educators across the country that make up the Family Day Care sector.

We are seeking educators from the early childhood education and care (ECEC) settings or similar, as well as individuals who may be new to the sector and are working towards a minimum certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The Recruitment and Approval Process
The recruitment and approval process to become a Family Day Care Educator involves the following steps:

1. Initial Process: You will enter an initial process with FDCA, including a review of the requirements and what you need to work towards. During this process you will have the opportunity to ask questions, gain valuable insights into the Family Day Care sector, and learn about the unique benefits for you, the children and the families you will support.
2. Local Service Introduction: Once your application is complete, FDCA will introduce you to a local Family Day Care service of your choice. Your approved service will engage in regular visits to ensure you have what you need and are supported in the education and care you are providing.
3. Home/Swelling Inspection: Your home/dwelling will be inspected and assessed to ensure it meets the necessary standards, (FDCA can provide a self-assessment tool to assist you when considering a setting/dwelling).

Qualifications
You will need to obtain or be working towards the following qualifications:

• An approved Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Training in asthma and anaphylaxis management.
• Appropriate clearance for working with children.
• National Police Check within the last 6 months (FDCA can provide this)
• Public liability insurance (FDCA can provide this).
• Be an Australian Citizen or hold a permanent resident visa.

Please note that anyone who is 18yrs or over in the dwelling will also need a current working with children check prior to approval.
