  • Salary $66,469 - $99,341 per annum - Ongoing Full Time - AHP1 / AHP2
The Port Pirie Environmental Health Centre aims to improve children's health and wellbeing in Port Pirie by focussing on primary prevention, detection and intervention to reduce the impact of lead, which affects early childhood development and overall health outcomes for children.

The Port Pirie Environmental Health Centre recognises the interconnectedness of all health determinants; economic, social and environmental and works together with other primary health care, early childhood and family support service providers to take action to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the Port Pirie community.

As the Family Health and Development Allied Health Professional (Social Worker / Occupational Therapist) you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of health services, appropriate to the needs of the local community.

To achieve this, the Family Health and Development Allied Health Professional works as a member of a multi-professional team, including health professionals and service providers from other sectors, and utilises a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment / therapy and evaluation approaches.

The Family Health and Development Allied Health Professional will assist the Environmental Health Centre in meeting its objective of reducing the blood lead levels of Port Pirie residents through an enhanced preventative program by providing support, consultation and advice to clients their families and carers.

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a AHP1 or AHP2 and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.

To be eligible to apply you must hold a recognised qualification within Social Work or Occupational Therapy profession, and be eligible for full practicing membership of the relevant Professional Association. For those disciplines requiring Registration, all requirements to obtain and maintain current registration must be fulfilled. For self regulated professions it is desirable to participate in the professional association accredited continuing professional development program - AASW Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accreditation Program. For appointment at AHP2 level, you must be able to demonstrate AHP2 level competencies, or have a 2 year post-graduate Masters with a related allied health undergraduate degree.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements. COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Public Health Act 2011 (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) to work in SA Health/health care setting.
