Family Minister/Assistant Minister

We’re a church in the Macarthur area in the South West of Sydney, connecting people to the love, hope and community found in Christ. We strive to see Christ’s love reach the lost through us, the Spirit’s power unite us together in hope and God’s word transform the community around us.

Over the last 2 years we have seen dramatic growth at our 9am Family Service, as well as in our kids and youth ministries. We're seeking a full time assistant to continue to grow and support these ministry areas.

Role Purpose
We are seeking to employ an Assistant Minister who is passionate about proclaiming and sharing God’s almighty word, seeing people gathered and united in Christ, and prayerfully depending on God’s Holy Spirit. This person will have demonstrated biblical character, conviction and competencies, and be driven in ministry by theological commitment rather than pragmatics and trends. The specific role will take into account the right candidate’s skills and experience, but a focus on family ministry, as they coordinate ministry to children and youth in our Sunday and midweek programs. This person would also be responsible for developing strategies to help partner with parents to disciple their children. 

Main responsibilities

• assist the Minister in his role as overseer and shepherd of the flock at Minto Anglican
• be part of the ministry team serving together
• proclaim the gospel of Christ crucified in action and in word
• take particular responsibility for ministry to children & youth:
  • overseeing Kids Church - our Sunday children’s ministry at 9am and 11.15am (Mandarin Service) 
  • Overseeing Sprouts Playgroup on Friday mornings
  • Coordinating Primary SRE
  • Coordinating our Friday Night Minto Youth Program
  • raising, training and supporting our Kids’ and Youth ministry leaders

Criteria

Character

• a mature and committed Christian man or women, with clear faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour
• a faith that demonstrates grace and the transforming sanctifying work of God
• passionate love for Christ and his church and desire to see lives transformed by the gospel
• a servant heart and willingness to commit to the mission and direction of Minto Anglican, and work under the leadership of the Minister
• teachable and willing to learn

Conviction

• unashamedly reformed and evangelical
• clear grasp of theologically driven ministry, and the centrality of God’s word
• cross centred understanding of the gospel, and deep understanding of Penal Substitutionary Atonement
• commitment to believe, celebrate, and proclaim the Bible’s teaching on men and women, particularly complementarianism

Competencies

• ability to teach the Bible
• ability to love and relate to people
• proven leadership skills and ability to take initiative
• organised and reliable with clear communication in written and verbal form
• 3-4 years theological qualification
• ability to form plans and think strategically

Conditions

• this position is full time to start from January 2025
• stipend in accordance with the diocesan remunerations guidelines, including housing and other allowances, based on experience and qualifications of applicant
