Family Support Worker

About Us:

Teen Challenge QLD is a well-established non-profit Christian organisation that provides residential rehabilitation for young men and women in the Toowoomba area and crisis accommodation in Brisbane. Our head office is located in Gaythorne, Brisbane.

We are currently looking for a motivated person to join the team in our head office at Gaythorne, Brisbane. The successful applicant will provide support to families in their homes, assisting parents to develop skills and strategies to manage challenging behaviours linked to addiction and other issues. As well as supporting thefamilies of young people who are clients of Teen Challenge QLD. You will play a pivotal role in providing invaluable support, education, and referrals.

Teen Challenge is passionate about seeing young lives transformed and living a productive and healthy lifestyle. It is essential to have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, within teams, and within a Christian environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively assist parents to adopt safe, acceptable, and effective parenting strategies that nurture healthy child development.
• Support and informal counselling 
• Information and education regarding age-appropriate parenting 
• Information about TCQ programs and other services options for family involvement in treatment
• Network and collaborate with a wide range of relevant services
• Maintain a high standard of documentation about services provided, including compilation of statistical reports
• Respond in a timely manner to all enquiries
• Organise events if required for families (including venue, catering, equipment, etc)
• Deliver educational components 
• Facilitate group discussions 
• Design and/or locate relevant resources that will assist group members 
• Ensure a safe environment for all participants 
• Ensure that the program creates opportunities for parents to enhance their capacity to respond appropriately to the issues experienced by their children.
