About Kummara
Proudly serving the South East Qld community since 1999, Kummara provides emergency support, counselling, family support and assistance in the field of child protection, health and wellbeing to local Indigenous and non-Indigenous families in South East Qld. We work in partnership with a number of government and community organisations across South East Queensland to improve the health and well-being of our communities.
Position Summary
The role of the Family Wellbeing Practitioner is to:
- Provide culturally sensitive and competent practice and resources to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families.
- Maintain a case load of client families and deliver individual case work, groups and community projects
- Identify family needs using specified tools and undertake screening and assessment of risks and needs of children and young people
- Provide information, advice, referral and linkage to relevant services, as appropriate to the assessed level of need.
- Maintain positive relationships with government, NGO and community organisations to ensure collaboration with other agencies to ensure integrated approaches.
- Maintain accurate records, report writing and data entry requirements in line with professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in the fields related to this area of work e.g., Family Support, Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology.
- Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
- Queensland Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
- Provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination (in consideration of required duties under work health and safety legislation, including relevant public health orders)

- Current valid Queensland drivers' licence.
