About the role
Saddleback Pastoral Pty Ltd is seeking a Farm and Livestock Hand to assist in carrying out day to day farming activities at our Droughtmaster Stud at Wilson’s Pocket, QLD.
The Company runs 150 Stud Breeders plus progeny on a 400 acre property using rotational grazing practices.
The successful candidate will be required to work independently, be self-motivated, honest and capable of reporting directly to the Owner, have a thorough knowledge of livestock and be a competent LIVESTOCK HANDler. A keen interest and understanding of Droughtmaster Cattle will be an advantage as well as being able to maintain and operate various farm equipment and machinery safely and respectfully.
This this is a full time, permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and undertake general maintenance of farm equipment.
- Perform general farm duties as required.
- Maintaining the property to a very high standard
- Assist in record keeping monitoring resource usage such as water, fuels and farm chemicals
- Assist in record keeping managing the Stud and compliance with the Droughtmaster Society
- Undertake land management tasks and improve ongoing performance of pastures and returns from the property.
Essential Criteria
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in beef cattle production and safe handling of livestock
- A solid understanding of Stud Cattle techniques, pest management and farm machinery
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Honest, Punctual and Trustworthy
Desirable Criteria
- Class MR/HR Licence
- QLD Firearms Licence Cat A/B
- Tertiary Qualifications in Agriculture / Livestock Production and Management
