Maitland Foods operates a broadacre cropping enterprise and provides contract farming services. As a family-owned business, Jim and David Maitland are at the helm, working with a team of highly skilled broadacre specialists, transport operators, key admin personnel, mechanical / maintenance experts and a professional agronomist.
Located just 20 minutes north of the breath-taking town of Clare in South Australia, the business farms approximately 3,100 hectares, of which 600 hectares consists of share farming operations.
About the role
- Preventative and scheduling of in-house and third-party servicing and maintenance of a modern fleet of farming machinery, earthmoving plant, transport equipment and light vehicles.
- Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining other farm machinery and equipment.
- Following Safe Work policies and procedures and assisting with continuous improvement.
- Maintaining a par level of necessary parts and workshop consumables with an emphasis on preventative maintenance.
- Assisting others (being a real team player), chipping in as needed and making a real difference.
- Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of machinery/equipment non-conformance, identify and record any machinery/equipment quality problems.
- Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins and manufacturers.
- This position requires a positive and hands-on approach with all activities.
- Initiate, recommend and provide solutions (use all available resources and your own initiative).
- Helping to maintain a clean and tidy workshop environment and encourage team members to embrace this philosophy.
- Contributing to the implementation of a paperless fleet management application.
About you
- Demonstrated mechanical experience with trade qualifications as a diesel mechanic.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in fabrication, including mechanical fitting.
- Competent understanding of (or the capability to learn) plant and equipment software/apps with the capacity to utilise computers and mobile devices.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication with contractors, farm staff, and the management team.
- A ‘hands-on’ approach when it comes to getting the job done.
- Attention to detail, initiative and a can-do attitude.
- A current driver’s licence with no restrictions, HR/HC/MC truck licence an advantage.
- You must be a proven punctual, reliable and real team person.
- You will also need to possess a high regard for and practice health and safety at all times.
