In addition to their diverse portfolio, they boast a culture that breeds innovation and personal & professional growth – offering ongoing mentorship and external development opportunities.Furthermore, they are committed to investing in local communities, all whilst developing and implementing innovative farming practices that drive quality; they combine leading farm management techniques with outstanding environmental stewardship to meet the highest of standards.The RoleAs the Farm Supervisor, you'll play a key role in assisting in managing daily irrigation (lateral & flood) and cropping activities on our clients flagship, 8,000ha mixed-cropping property located in Hillston, NSW. You'll need to be hands on when required, as well as ensuring your team maintains irrigation infrastructure as well as minimising disruptions during breakdowns and decommissions. You'll be instrumental in implementing site-specific programs, actively monitoring soil moisture, and keeping farm equipment and infrastructure in top shape.Developing and growing your team of 4 will be key, you'll mentor and train permanent and casual staff, ensuring they skilfully manage tasks.
Further to the above, your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Collaborate with management to prepare weekly irrigation schedules.
- Assist the Farm Manager in recording and maintaining detailed irrigation records, including power and water usage, water table readings, and other critical events.
- Provide clear direction and effectively assign tasks to your team.
- Lead and support your team in achieving performance goals.
- Manage risks and incidents according to our client's WHS systems.
- Motivate your team to achieve ambitious production targets while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement farm plans that align with best practices, environmental regulations, and budgetary constraints.
- Oversee the efficient use of water resources, including managing our modern GPS irrigation systems.
- Conduct regular crop monitoring to track progress and make informed decisions throughout the growing season.
- Supervise farm maintenance tasks and ensure equipment readiness to avoid downtime during critical periods.
- Uphold a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices and procedures.
- Demonstratable leadership skills with a talent for motivating and developing team members
- Knowledge of broadacre or irrigated cropping will be regarded but not essential.
- Good mechanical and problem solving aptitude
- A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and make decisions
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement
