Potential earnings of between $110k & $120k per year (gross before tax, inclusive of overtime & allowances)
What is the role…
As a Feed Mill Operator you will be rotating between two key roles, Inside operator and outside operator.
What’s the difference?
The outside operator is responsible for front end wheel loader and forklift driving, loading the various meals and ingredients into the batching bins to keep the Mill producing feed. You will be directing and unloading grain trucks and unloading meal trucks into bays.
The inside operator is responsible for monitoring and running of the Feed Mill batching computers, Feed quality testing and issuing our feed drivers with their loads of feed, which are then delivered to our poultry farms.
Both roles can be quite challenging, but you will be surrounded by support people to teach, coach and assist you with everyday tasks. We have a strong team consisting of Feed Mill staff, Workshop staff and feed drivers.
What is required to be successful?
- The ideal person for this role is someone who likes rotating roles and rotating shifts - there is a lot of variation which keeps everyone stimulated.
- Mechanical aptitude is highly advantageous.
- Most importantly a good attitude and be able to work in a team environment.
- LF Forklift license
- Manual car license
- Own transportation
- Safety awareness and proactive reporting of safety concerns
- Physically able to lift up to 25kg
- Reliable and punctual
There are two shifts, a day shift from 6am to 6pm and a night shift that starts at 6pm and runs through to 6am. Generally we run 12 hour shifts but sometimes feed demand can decrease, so there will be some 10 hour days.
