Our client, a family-owned and operated business located in Murringo, just outside of Young, NSW, has been specialising in certified organic chicken, turkey, and lamb production for over 25 years. Your role
Due to growth, our we are seeking a driven and reliable Miller to play a crucial key role in our client’s operation, ensuring their Feedmill and pellet press produce adequate feed and nutrition for their farm.
Their semi-automated Feed Mill is currently producing 60 tons per week, but capable of processing up to 4 tons per hour – it has been designed to be managed by a single operator – however you will be supported by inhouse maintenance manager as well as external contractors when required, be that from an electrical or software standpoint.
Your responsibilities will also include –
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the Feed Milling area.
- Manage the milling and mixing process, including the selection and handling of various grains and micro-ingredients.
- Monitor and maintain the holding silo and auger transfer system for efficient pellet press operation.
- Take regular feed samples for quality control purposes.
- Liaise with the Farm Manager regarding feed delivery schedules and quantities.
- Deliver produced feed to poultry sheds.
- Maintain accurate records for all milling activities, deliveries, receipts, and equipment maintenance.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or potential improvements to management.
Our ideal candidate will be a hands on natural problem solver who has the ability to multi-task and think on their feet – coming from an milling or agriculture background is not essential, as long as you come with strong fundamental mechanical aptitude.
Further to the above it is important that you can address the following criteria:
- HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's license preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with other staff members.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while also being a team player.
- Physically fit for the demands of the role, including lifting, operating machinery, and navigating the work environment.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to a safe work ethic.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
