Our client is looking for a motivated and hard-working couple to join their strong family business operation located within a stone’s throw of Goondiwindi. The company is a large scale business with multiple aggregations across Queensland, including large scale cropping and backgrounding operations. They are looking for a suitably dedicated couple to oversee the day to day functions of their 1500SCU feedlot. This is an exciting opportunity in a dynamic expanding business for permanent, long time roles for the right applicants. It is very important that as a couple you are able to work cohesively together, with one person taking the lead in a supervisor role and the other in a supporting stock hand role.
Key responsibilities for this role:
- Manage all day to day feedlot cattle handling and processing in a low stress manner
- Maintain all structures in the feedlot: yards, pens, mill, plant & machinery
- Ensure herd health, nutrition and welfare are at optimum levels
- Thoroughly understand and work to industry standards and meet all legislative requirements
- Maintain a high standard of Work Health & Safety and Quality Assurance
- Liaise and consult with other managers, contractors, nutritionists and vets
- Work weekends feeding on a rotational basis
Applicants for this role will need:
- Sound understanding of beef cattle
- Mechanically minded & proactive
- Strong attention to detail
- Through record keeping
- Dedicated work ethic
- Feedlot experience & knowledge highly beneficial
- Tractor &/feed mixer experience highly beneficial
- Knowledge of Elynx software beneficial but not essential
- Ability to work autonomously and well together in a cohesive team
- Drivers licence & own vehicle
- NO HORSE WORK INVOLVED
Our client is able to offer a very comfortable 2 bedroom cottage with a modern kitchen, polished timber floors, A/C in each room and a shed for vehicles. Pets are negotiable on application. Our client is also flexible with arrangements for applicants who wish to rent in town and commute. Above award salaries are also on offer for both roles with room to negotiate based on experience. The feedlot is located close to the major town of Goondiwindi with all amenities, schools and social lifestyle available.
