Tasmanian Stockfeed Services is the leading manufacturer of stock feed and associated services in Tasmania. This Tasmanian family owned and operated company was established in 2006 and has enjoyed consistent and continual growth.  The business has its head office in Launceston and mill and warehousing operations in Devonport, Burnie and Mildura (Victoria).

An exciting opportunity exists to join our business to support our stockfeed mill operations. Based primarily in Devonport, this role will provide support to the Shift Supervisor to ensure mill and production outcomes are met on time every time in a 24/7 mill operation.  Two positions are available – a weekday dayshift position which will also provide leave coverage on the 24/7 Roster as required and a shift work position working on a 24/7 work roster.  Candidates who have previous supervisory experience or have the capacity to be trained as a relief shift supervisor in the stockfeed mill will be highly regarded. Previous experience desirable however on the job training will be provided to the successful candidates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working under the supervision and direction of Shift Supervisor to perform a variety of feedmill related tasks (e.g. raw materials input, cleaning, bagging of final product, forklift operations, stock rotation, raw material retrieval, warhousing etc)
  • Comply with all operational, procedural and safety instructions, guidelines and training
  • Operate plant, equipment and machinery once licenced and trained
  • Undertake various heavy and repetitive manual handling tasks regularly throughout the shift
  • Maintain hygiene levels in the mill in accordance with Feedsafe accreditation requirements
  • Assist with stocktake and stock rotation duties and managing returns/non-conforming stock
  • Assist with the loading/unloading of trucks as required
  • Report all incidents as soon as possible to Shift Supervisor 
  • Undertake further training as required
  • Participate on the required roster: 
    1. Monday to Friday Dayshift, providing ad hoc leave coverage on the 24/7 work roster as required  OR
    2. 24/7, 12 hour shift rotating work roster which includes:
      • 4 Day Shifts (5am-5pm), 3 days off then
      • 4 night shifts (5pm-5am), 5 days off
  • Act as relief Shift Supervisor on Day Shift or on the 24/7 work roster as required
  • Work at other work locations (e.g. Burnie) or complete other duties as required

Key capabilities required include:

  • Available to work on 24/7, 12 hour shift rotating work roster at Devonport Mill as required
  • Previous manufacturing experience would be advantageous
  • Must hold a current forklift licence
  • Be physically fit and able to complete repetitive manual handling tasks, including safely lifting/carrying weights up to 25kgs
  • Have a safety first mentality and a willingness to undertake training as required
  • Are positive, proactive, flexible, self-motivated and highly dependable
  • An active team player who is able to work effectively without supervision
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude would be highly advantageous
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
  • Be willing to undertake a national police check and be able to successfully obtain a Level 1 Marine Security Identification Card (MSIC)
