Job description

Department of Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery are looking for a fellow to join their team.

  • To provide clinical care under supervision and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to practice as a specialist.
  • To assist with training of the registrars and resident medical officers.
  • To be involved in the provision of patient services (including on-call activities) in theatre, ward and outpatient settings.
  • To supervise and co-ordinate the registrars, junior doctors and medical students.
  • To facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate research as appropriate
  • To gain enhanced knowledge in all areas of HPB surgery.

About the Role

  • Demonstrate proven skills in the management of both elective and emergency Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery.
  • Demonstrate training, knowledge and expertise in Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery
  • Show proven clinical excellence and demonstrated ability to research develop and implement high quality major teaching and educational initiatives in the speciality area.
  • Maintain the process of clinical audit.
  • Participate in Unit Outpatient Clinics.
  • Participate in the emergency on-call roster under the supervision of a Consultant Surgeon as directed by the Director of Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery and the Chair of Surgery.
  • Undertake and supervise emergency surgery as required.
  • Assist in the training of the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgery Registrars and be responsible for supervising and assisting surgical registrars and principal house officers to initiate and complete research projects for presentation and publication
