STELaRLab is Lockheed Martin’s first dedicated multi-disciplinary research lab to be setup outside of the US and conducts research in artificial intelligence, signal and image processing, communication systems and multidomain operations (MDO) to deliver exciting outcomes that advance Australian capability.

The role is based in Melbourne and its primary responsibility for the provision of Finance and Business Operations support to STELaRLab programs in Australia. 

Serves as an integral member of the STELaRLab Finance and Business Operations team providing support across Program Finance, including month-end process, financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Perform financial system management activities including project setup, maintenance and closure, journal entry adjustments and transfers for labour and materials. This includes, setting up charge codes, assigning budgets, planning and maintaining resource, material and travel allocations
  • Coordinate with accounts team to prepare invoices for internal and external customers, process payments, maintain record for upcoming payments and invoices
  • Work collaboratively with program team and the supply chain organization to process procurement requests
  • Perform multiple financial cost analyses functions, including cost allocation to correct charge codes, analysis of cost data on a monthly basis, highlighting project variance to stakeholders and recommend corrective action and preparing reports

About you:

To be successful in securing this position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Cert IV or above) in a relevant discipline (Finance, Accounting etc.) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
  • Experience in Project Finance, Cost and Schedule analysis
  •  Strong analytical skills and comprehension of financial management strategies
  • Experience in Proposal development, estimation and pricing

Desirable

  • Strong financial accounting skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of government contracting concepts
  • Excellent Communication Skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Capable of making business based decisions
