I am looking for a Finance and Payroll Support Officer to join a large local NT council.
Your new role
This role is responsible for providing support of Finance and Payroll functions that contributes to the effective delivery of the council’s plan.
- Perform processing, verification, and reconciliation of council’s payroll functions.
- Perform processing and verification of council’s accounts payable functions.
- Provide timely administrative support and training regarding specific areas of the council’s financial systems to the organisation and external parties.
- Perform payment processing of accounts payable and Payroll within council deadlines.
- Prepare and develop regular and ad hoc financial reports as required.
- Maintain the integrity of the council’s financial information specifically related to accounts payable and Payroll with a view to continuous improvement.
- Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of business unit related policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate records of work-related activities.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant discipline, which may be acquired through a Cert III or relevant experience, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll operations.
- The ability to contribute to an innovative and positive working environment that motivates and supports people to achieve high levels of performance.
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines within a dynamic environment.
- A focus on achieving customer-centric results, with an ability to contribute to specific goals and objectives.
- Knowledge and awareness of social, economic, environmental, cultural, and political issues impact on programs and service delivery.
- A sound level of communication skills, including the ability to convey and impart information in an easy-to-understand format both verbally and in writing.
- Efficient computer skills, with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, particularly in the use of finance systems.
