ABOUT THE ROLE
- Temporary full time – 18 months maternity leave replacement
- $90,631 per annum plus 11% superannuation
- Flexible Working options available
An opportunity exists for a high performing and customer focussed Finance Business Partner to join the finance team on a temporary basis to support the organisation with variance analysis, monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting and processing of various ledger transactions and liaison with all level of officers within the departments.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Maintain current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, advise of and implement any changes required to ensure compliance.
- Contribute to the quarterly forecast review process, including meeting timelines, coordinating with other stakeholders as well as preparing reports for Executive Team and Council identifying any material change from budget.
- Actively contribute to the development, implementation and performance monitoring of Council’s Integrated Planning & Reporting framework.
- Act as the Finance Business Partner for one or more departments of Council.
- Provide financial support to Directors and Managers during budgeting, reforecasting and other activities.
- Work with Managers and Directors to provide financial analysis and ensure their understanding of the financial impact of activities in their branches as well as providing accurate, timely and concise financial information.
- Review the accuracy and appropriateness of accounting transactions, recorded in the financial systems.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of the various accounting software applications used.
- Assist as required in the preparation of various internal and external reporting requirements, under guidance of senior accounting staff.
- Provide back-up Business Partnering for the Corporate Accountant for Capital Works budgeting and reporting.
ABOUT YOU
To support your success in the role, you will bring:
- Tertiary Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
- High level of attention to detail and demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with managers and executive staff as required.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and experience in management reporting, preferably with local government or a similar complex organisation.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure timelines are met.
- Highly developed computer skills, with experience in Oracle, or similar corporate software solutions, and Microsoft Excel.
- An attitude of continuous improvement and demonstrated customer first focus.
