About the role
The primary purpose of the Finance Manager role is to be responsible for end to end finance operations, financial reporting for companies within the group, finance planning and analysis.
The Finance Manager will drive continuous improvement and will be responsible for preparing financial reports for various business entities on a consolidated basis. In this role you will have a good understanding of intercompany transactions, elimination process for preparing consolidated financial reports and reconciling loan accounts between companies.
This position is hands on and is responsible for the overall finance functions of the organisation including management reporting, responding to external audit queries and the budgeting process.
A rare opportunity, and one that will see you working very closely with the CFO in managing the budgeting and forecasting of the Group entities. You will also work closely with the Leadership team ensuring timely and accurate information for decision making including governance.
Major Activities
Financial Management
- Preparation of monthly management/financial reports
- Preparation of quarterly board reports
- Responsible for completing month end processes and planning.
- Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for companies within the group.
- Preparation of compliance report for bank monthly.
- Review monthly payroll tax reconciliation.
- Assist Managing comprehensive budgets across all branches and individual companies.
- Work closely with the accountant to manage the annual general insurance and workers compensation review and policy renewal process
- Analysis of actual expenditure and comparison against budgets.
- Supervision of finance team to ensure financial processes and records are maintained and delivered in an accurate and timely manner
- Working closely with the accountants and reviewing monthly Business Activity statement (BAS) for various entities.
- Review of annual FBT return as required.
- Support the business to ensure statutory and tax compliance obligations are met
- Support the business as required in respect of the implementation of the new ERP System
Budgeting and Reporting
- Support the leadership team to manage the financial aspects of their individual business units, including supporting the development of their annual operational and capital expenditure budgets, monitoring income and expenditure and taking appropriate and timely measures to address any variances.
- Assist business unit managers to obtain relevant financial information, advice and modelling to support business unit reporting, growth proposals and forward planning.
Financial Registers
- Overseeing fixed assets register including reallocation of cost to other businesses within the group (support Company Accountant)
- Overseeing Leased Assets register including payment of rentals. (support Company Accountant)
- HP Register: Maintenance of HP register
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- CA/CPA qualified.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Robust knowledge of accounting standards and taxation laws
- Experience formulating budgets, forecasts, and performance/analytical reports (strong excel skills)
- Ability to manage competing demands, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions in relations to the dimensions of the position.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships to support the delivery of key role requirements.
- Microsoft Dynamics, Pronto ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) would be preferred but not essential.
