The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to the Financial Controller and Finance team as we strengthen our reporting and governance for a listed company. This role reports to the Financial Controller and will be part of the Finance Team to provide a high level of services to relevant internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, excellent leadership and process refinement skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to drive financial performance and strategic objectives.
Financial Leadership
- Support the Financial Controller in overseeing the financial control team and function.
Month-end process
- Support the Financial Controller by driving, maintaining and improving the month-end cycle across the finance team. Ensuring an efficient, timely and accurate processing of month-end, within a continuous improvement culture.
Regulatory and ASX reporting
- Production and delivery of statutory (incl ASIC), APRA and ASX reporting.
- Management of key stakeholders include auditors, actuaries, external business partners and compliance stakeholders.
Tax Compliance
- Responsible for Taxation compliance in conjunction with relevant consultants.
Technical Accounting issues and Ad-hoc projects
- Support the Financial Controller in solving technical accounting issues
- Oversee implementation of new accounting standards
- Lead ad-hoc finance projects
Treasury and Investment
- Preparation of cashflow forecasting
- Manage investment activities
- Interact with the financial accountant performing the treasury and control function
Process and control review
- Assist with developing systemisation of underlying Financial and Actuarial processes, and reporting of relevant information to stakeholders including regulators, board members and shareholders.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and controls. Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
- Continuously review, monitor, and assess risks and controls within the team.
- Contribute to an efficient internal and external audit process.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to implement solutions to improve data capture and data quality, leading to improvements in business insights and the accuracy of reporting
Skills and Experience:
- CA/CPA Qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 6-7 years post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience within the Insurance industry.
- Experience in Statuary Reporting and application of new accounting standards, knowledge of AASB 17 preferred.
- Experience in documentation of processes and policies.
- ASX listed finance team experience (advantageous).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
