The opportunity
As the Finance Manager, Reinsurance you will take ownership of the reinsurance (RI) financial budgeting and reforecasting process. You will provide analytics and business insights on the monthly, quarterly and annual RI financial result. You will lead and manage a team of up to 3 direct reports plus regular liaison with the offshore team.
Your new role
- Support the implementation of the team strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets
- Build and implement process to review RI finance budget as part of wider budgeting process and own financial output
- Build and maintain effective partnering relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- Oversee all requests are responded to by the team appropriately in a timely, professional manner
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and leverage opportunities for development and improvement of RI systems
- Implement and maintain proper risk and control documentation over the process, updating as improvements are implemented
- Ensure team compliance with IFRS, AASB and QBE finance and other relevant policies and guidance
- Support the implementation of improved processes and systems to meet requirements of efficiency, simplicity, policy compliance while achieving team recording and reporting requirements
- Standardise RI methodologies for accounting for specific RI processes
- Facilitate the team achievement of KPIs and preparation and implementation of Performance Management Process with team to ensure expectations are understood and met
About you
- Solid understanding of within financial services, with preferable work experience within the insurance and reinsurance industry
- Strong financial background (CA/CPA preferred) and experience within financial reporting environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities and an ability to work systematically through complex financial challenges and positively influence outcomes.
- Adaptability as evidenced by a willingness to get "hands-on" in personally delivering solutions to system, data and process challenge
- Ability to communicate with all stakeholders and interpret financial data for a range of stakeholders and developing effective communication and reports
- Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to become highly efficient in the use of new systems such as MS Power BI
