Under our Good Works umbrella we have many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assists some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.
About the Role
Reporting to the EGM Corporate Services, the Finance Operationsand Reporting Manager will lead a dedicated team of finance professionals, ensuring the delivery of high quality and timely financial accounting services and Reporting. This role will ensure robust controls to effectively manage risks and bring expertise to Finance Operations, compliance reporting, and financial systems.
The contribution of the Finance Operationsand Reporting Manager will be integral in achieving strategic and operational objectives of the finance team and in creating a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the provision of high-quality financial operations for the Society and its controlled entities.
- Leading the development and delivery of rigorous, lean and efficient business processes across Finance Operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and treasury, investments, taxation, cashflow management, expense management, capital projects and asset management.
- Ensuring sound internal controls, data integrity, and Group-wide compliance with finance policies and procedures.
- Leading and supporting internal and external financial audit programs.
- Supporting Group budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Maintaining and applying knowledge of current legislation and Reporting frameworks including Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Governance Standards.
- Preparing the Group’s statutory financial reporting obligations in accordance with the applicable legislation including annual reports, FBT, GST, ACNC and National reporting.
- Advising the executive team to make informed financial decisions in the best interests of the Group by providing relevant financial information and data.
- Leading and implementing change and process improvements to enhance Finance Operations processes.
About you
You will bring a wealth of experience in financial management, with a proven track record of effectively managing and leading critical financial reporting and processes. Your leadership style will instil a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence. This position requires a respected leader who is not only strategic but also hands-on, actively shaping the financial landscape and contributing to the organization's commitment to social justice.
More specifically you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce and/or Accounting and at least 6 years’ experience in a similar role (essential)
- CA/CPA qualified (essential)
- Excellent working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Corporations Law.
- Sound knowledge and experience in indirect taxes including GST and FBT.
- Knowledge of ACNC governance standards and obligations.
- Proven expertise in overseeing month-end processes, internal controls, reporting, and actively managing the year-end audit process within agreed timelines.
- Proven knowledge and skills in providing sound advice and guidance to executives, managers and employees on a broad range of finance and accounting issues.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a high performing team in achieving outcomes and excellence in service delivery.
