About the Role
Our Team is led by our Chief Financial Officer with the assistance of our Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Manager. While our monthly finance and reporting requirements are our priorities – we also spend time investing in program development, technical analysis, review of operational/market trends and provide recommendations.
Our Financial Accountant will part take in the monthly reporting and will also have the opportunity to expand their skills in financial modelling (including assessments relating to M&A activity and liquidity / capital management) to assist senior management in making strategic investment decisions. Our aim is to achieve a dynamic work environment where the team spend less time processing data and more time on enriching tasks.
They will also understand the importance of technological advancement in the industry and the benefits of utilising it as it aligns with Viridian’s operational strategy. Proactiveness and dedication to identify potential improvement areas and propose recommendations to senior team members is also a vital aspect.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Finance Manager, the responsibilities of the Financial Accountant role at Viridian include but are not limited to:
- Review and analyse data to identify trends and provide insights to senior management and assist with preparation of forecasts and related modelling of business expectations.
- Assist with the development of new processes as well as improving legacy processes through digital transformation / implementation of available software.
- Projects – technical and operational involvement in various business transactions (including M&A related assessments, business reporting improvements, etc).
- Assist with annual audits, including preparation of annual financial statements, liaising with external auditors to provide information and resolve queries.
- Assist in month-end reporting, including preparation of financial statements, month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and ad hoc accounting analysis and investigations (including transaction investigation).
- Working harmoniously with the Finance team and other stakeholders including Viridian’s offshore bookkeeping team to ensure accurate reporting.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
- Completed or near completion of the post graduate qualifications in CA/CPA
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within an accounting role
- Experience in a complex, dynamic, fast paced operating environment and able to manage competing deadlines for multiple stakeholders
- Strong business modelling and analysis skills (MS Excel, or other)
The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
- Exceptionally high attention to detail and excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including both verbal and written) with the ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Preferred but not necessary:
- Experience within Financial Services Industry
- Experience within mid-tier or Big4 firm (audit or business advisory services)
- Experience with Xero, Fathom, and Accurri
- Experience with preparation of accounting papers
- Experience with tax consequences around operational decision making (e.g. FBT)
