Our client is a large, commercial business with a strong finance function and high performing management team. There are excellent opportunities to work with business areas to promote financial management best practice and to ensure stakeholders maximise revenues. They have an impressive client list both in and out of Canberra and there is extensive growth on the horizon as they push into international markets because of the high demand for their products.
The Opportunity
Working as the main point of contact for a broad range of senior level stakeholders, you will have exposure to the commercial decision makers and be relied on for proactive financial advice and support. The complexity of the business and operational environment means this is a rapid learning opportunity and a chance to grow your career with interesting finance subject matter. You will have the ability to work up to two days per week from home once established in the role.
The Role
Financial reporting (with an ASX listed context) including:
Preparing financial statements and management discussion analysis and perform year end accounting for provisions and impairment. Preparing workpapers and audit files supporting reporting
Preparing month-end corporate reports including monthly analysis and commentary. Supporting the preparation of Board reports
Liaising with business areas to improve financial management. Identifying and acting on potential improvements in the capex processes
Reviewing annual income tax return and FBT return
Liaising with auditors as required
Preparing general journal including consolidation, employee entitlement analysis and workpapers and balance sheet reconciliations as required
Preparation of monthly cash flow
Project accounting including OPEX and CAPEX reporting
Reflecting asset changes as required (disposals, additions, relocations etc)
Providing accounting advice to business areas as required
Your Background and Experience
Our client is targeting a high performing Senior Analyst or Manager from the Big 4 (ideally audit) or tax firm, or an experienced commercial accountant. You will be highly motivated, commercially oriented and with a pragmatic and reliable common-sense approach to new problems and situations. A strong technical understanding of accounting standards and their application to large businesses will be highly regarded. Your reputation is as an all-rounder given your strong technical skills combined with well developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary / Rate
$90k – $110k + super
