YMCA Queensland is seeking a passionate and experienced Financial Accountant to join our administration office in Fortitude Valley on a permanent, full-time basis.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at the YMCA Queensland Administration Office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Group Accountants and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in delivering accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting, finance and management information.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports and budgets.
- Support the month-end board reporting.
- Perform reconciliations of accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Analyse financial data and maintain complex spreadsheets providing insights to assist in decision-making.
- Prepare and post end of month journals, prepayments, accruals, and provisions along with preparing the appropriate supporting documentation
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with financial regulations and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Participate in financial audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate for the Financial Accountant position will possess a unique blend of skills, traits and values that align with the organisation's mission and culture. As part of a collaborative team, the Financial Accountant should be able to work effectively with colleagues from various departments and be approachable, communicative and willing to share knowledge and expertise to achieve common goals.
You will also bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- CPA or CA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
