The Role
An exciting opportunity exists at the APS 6 level to join our fast paced and results oriented Financial Performance and Management (FP&M) Division within the Defence Finance Group (DFG). DFG leads financial management across Defence, delivering financial oversight, strategies, management and assistance to achieve Defence’s Intended Results.
As an APS 6 Financial Advisor in the FP&M Division you will combine your passion for finance with your passion for stakeholder management. You will have the ability to analyse and interpret financial information such as budgets and management reporting and enjoy working with others to understand complex issues, analysing results and an ability to communicate your findings. As an APS 6 Financial Analyst you will assist DFG’s clients by undertaking a range of financial analysis tasks and activities. You may also be a team coach or lead a small team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.
As you progress with FP&M Division you will have the opportunity to have a “seat at the table” with some of the most respected leaders in Australia. You will be acknowledged as an expert in your field, and expected to deliver trusted financial advice. Information you provide will be relied upon to make decisions of national significance, information that helps shape major national operations and initiatives.
By partnering with business areas you will see the direct impact of the work you deliver and how it affects broader operational outcomes. Each operational area you support helps you to build a deeper understanding of Defence’s mission, as you build your career. About our Team
FP&M Division delivers financial advice and performance reporting to Groups and Services, Ministers and other government departments, across all Defence programs and activities including workforce, capital, sustainment and operating budgets.
FP&M Division consists of over 400 staff working in six branches, each managing around $6 Billion per year, with embedded finance staff across the country working closely with business areas.
Principally, the Division is responsible for delivering financial management information and advice to ensure Defence leaders can make well informed decisions. Think big numbers, many complex projects running in parallel, and close public scrutiny requiring carefully managed finances.
The Finance Air Force Branch sits within the FP&M Division and provides finance support to Air Force.
