This is a casual remote role for an aspiring financial adviser, student or someone with the skills and availability to help.
You are likely studying at university and have a keen interest in personal finance, investing, superannuation, property and financial planning in general.
The business produces podcasts (this is money, property, work etc), videos, books emails and social media content.
You will work directly with the owner / key podcast host & personality (Glen James).
You’ll need to be able to research content and crunch numbers for podcast episodes, social media content, research and review financial comparisons and update existing financial tables in resources we have that need updating (books etc).
This will be great practical experience to work with one of the key players in the money & personal finance space in Australia.
This is a 100% remote casual role that may only need a few hours per week, so it’s a perfect little side job for the right person.
If you don’t think you are an exact fit to the above uni student vibe, I’d suggest apply anyway and provide proof as to why you’re a good fit.
What makes you stand out in our world?
You read the below team values (at the bottom) and let us know your favourite two in your cover letter.
You will also need to send a video of yourself (short is good) telling us about you (it’s a remote role so you need to know how to be comfortable with tech and being on camera with the team).
The ideal person:
Is passionate about financial planning and personal finance
Likes crunching comparison numbers
Has great attention to detail
Has experience with google sheets & docs
Can be flexible with work hours and times each week. Some weeks might be 4 hours work, the next nothing, then 3 hours the next 6 etc.
Prob be level 2 casual rates on misc. award. TBC.
As part of your application, you’ll need to provide some responses to the following three tasks:
- Can explain what your own superannuation is invested in (amount not needed, just a full breakdown of fees) and provide a comparison between two other funds. Assume a balance of $41,000 - show workings & provide any assumptions.
- Can provide a strategy of a single person buying a one bed apartment to live in, they have $180k cash saved, property will sell for $450k. What is a good mortgage structure for this? What are some considerations? Provide any commentary / assumptions you like.
- Can provide some commentary if someone came to you with $200k to invest from an inheritance. They already have a mortgage of $500k. Property value is $900k. Age 43&38. Incomes $80k & $110k. Two kids in primary school. What are you asking them in the first meeting? What are some considerations for this capital?
In summary:
- Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge and interest in personal finance, budgeting, investing, and related topics
- Ability to conduct research and gather relevant information from reliable sources
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate
