Job description

Michael Page are exclusively partnering with a private business based in the Perth CBD who are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join on a permanent basis. The organisation is focused on the management and development of their hospitality assets which are based around the major mining towns in Western Australia. Given their geographic spread across WA, this role will require the candidate to travel monthly to these sites (once per month, likely for 2-4 days).

Our client is a specialist in hospitality management services, led by an experienced CEO and board with an excellent track record developing and growing businesses within the industry in Western Australia. The business is a joint venture between two investment groups based in Australia.

Description

Manage / oversee all financial functions including Accounts receivable and payable.

Conduct ongoing analysis to identify areas of risk / cost optimization and efficiency and suggest compliance improvements.

In conjunction with CEO and the Board, working with banks and financial institutions to coordinate funding for growth.

Assistance with board reporting.

Design and produce reports to help the management team make more informed decision making.

Prepare monthly reports for management, including analysis of variances against budget and forecast.

Capex approval, management and reporting.

Work closely with administration staff at sites to ensure compliance with required systems and processes.

Manage intercompany reconciliations.

Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Fixed asset register maintenance.

Assist with ongoing process mapping and documentation.

Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, ASIC, tax and financial reporting obligations.

In conjunction with the CEO and operations, preparation of annual budget and forecast.

Cash flow management and reporting.

Coordinate fortnightly payroll and ensure an efficient, timely and compliant payroll function is maintained.

Manage and maintain Company insurance renewals and claims.

Ensure effective and controlled purchase and receivables systems are in place.

Provide BAS / payroll tax / FBT / Company income tax information to external auditors and review for accuracy

Manage and provide necessary information to external Accounting firm for annual audit and check resulting special purpose financial report.

Month end balance sheet reconciliations.

Conduct ongoing analysis to identify areas of risk / cost optimization and efficiency and suggest compliance improvements.

Profile

To be considered for this role you must have a professional accounting qualification equivalent to CA/CPA and a demonstrated track record as a Finance Manager and/or Controller. Previous experience with smaller businesses where you've led the business through growth will be highly regarded, as well as experience implementing finance systems, processes and controls. This will be a very hands-on position and will require somebody who is able to work at both a strategic level with the CEO, as well as get into the detail, which will include posting journals and driving month-end.

This role requires monthly travel to sites across Western Australia, so you must be comfortable with this and available to undertake this travel each month. The days spent on site each month may vary from 1 day to 5 days depending on the need. The sites are based near mining towns in Western Australia.
