Your Position:
Work in brand new state of the art offices located within the Burwood Civic and Library precinct, a short walk from the vibrancy of Burwood High Street and convenience of Burwood Train Station.
The successful candidate will manage Council’s rating and revenue system to ensure income is collected in line with relevant legislation and lead a customer focused team to support the organisation by coordinating the timely levying, reconciliation and allocation of all Council’s rates and annual charges.
Your responsibilities will include: -
- Providing an effective accounting system ensuring all relevant reconciliations are maintained
- Complying with the Statutory responsibilities of Rate revenue and miscellaneous revenue collection ensuring Council maximises income opportunities in an efficient, accurate, timely and innovative manner
- Ensuring the preparation and issue of Council’s rate notices are performed in accordance with Statutory requirements and service deliveries are refined when required
- Monitoring of Council’s debt recovery processes of overdue accounts to ensure they are in accordance with Council’s policies and practices
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting / Financial Management or equivalent experience in Local Government rating
- Experience in preparing rating strategies and models in accordance with the Local Government Act and Financial Regulations and presentation of rating strategies and reports to Council and Public Meetings
- Strong accounting and financial management skills
