The First Aid and Security departments predominately undertake the initial management of First Aid for our staff and guests, and ensure a safe environment for those who visit. First Aid Officers are required to provide First Aid to our guests and staff. Security Officers are employed to protect property, assets and people and are responsible for observing and reporting any concerns to Senior Management whilst maintaining a high level of presence within the Zoo.
This role is a job-share position, whereby the successful candidate will perform duties within both First Aid and the Security department.
This role is seeking an applicant who has a demonstrated ability to work in a high performance environment, with a capacity to deliver all requirements of the role, great work ethic and the ability to work well within high pressure situations.
Duties Include –
- Undertaking initial treatment of injuries and/or illnesses to guests visiting Australia Zoo.
- Recording details of First Aid provided and completing incident reports in full for staff and patrons requiring treatment.
- Perform Car Park and Zoo patrols regularly, ensuing opening and closing procedures for the Zoo are met.
- Undertaking frequent welfare checks with staff throughout night shift, escorting any animal admittance through to the hospital to ensure the safety of our staff within the Wildlife Hospital at all times.
- Monitoring alarms, weather and radio communication throughout the shift, to ensure any emergency procedures are followed appropriately.
- Attending all demonstrations and shows to operate as Crowd Control where required.
- Maintaining professional and approachable demeanour to all guests and staff within the Zoo, providing friendly customer service to all visitors.
- Undertake vehicle inspections weekly of both the First Aid and Security Fleet.
- Daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance of First Aid Rooms and First Aid Kits as scheduled.
- Regular liaison with Human Resources and Workplace Health and Safety.
- Liaising and Reporting incidents and observations to the Senior Management team.
Essential Criteria –
- Security License (Cert II – Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control).
- Advanced First Aid Qualifications (First Aid, CPR, Defibrillator and O2 Administration).
- Flexibility and availability to work over a 7 day/night period.
- Manual Drivers License.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol.
- Ability to work within a fast paced, and high pressure environment.
- A demonstrated ability of good judgement and the ability to make great decisions under pressure.
Preferred Criteria –
- Any relevant WHS Experience
- Experience within a similar environment
