The Role
We are seeking someone with extensive experience working with First Nations people and communities in the South West NSW region. You will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of First Nations culture, heritage and values. We highly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
The role requires the ability to travel in the South West NSW region.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead engagement with First Nations communities and organisations across South West NSW REZ, ensuring all Squadron activities to be delivered are inclusive of local First Nations Traditional Owners, and respect cultural heritage beliefs and protocols.
- Work closely with First Nations Traditional Owner families, groups and organisations to identify and address local cultural heritage concerns in relation to the delivery of Squadron projects and activities on traditional lands.
- Undertake analysis of local First Nations business readiness and work with our local Regional Economic Development Facilitator on strategies to increase local First Nations business procurement across Squadron’s projects and activities supply chain.
- Work closely with local Jobs and Employment Support Services, Registered Training Organisations, Schools, First Nations organisations, groups and communities to develop strategies for increasing First Nations participation and employment in the renewables sector.
- Maintain comprehensive awareness of current policies and guidelines relating to Indigenous procurement and employment participation.
- Deliver performance reports on a monthly basis.
About you
You will have:
- Extensive community engagement experience working with First Nations Traditional Owners, communities, organisations and groups.
- Strong understanding of and appreciation of the cultural heritage, beliefs, values and social needs of First Nations people in South West NSW REZ.
- Experience developing, managing, and strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A current full Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
