About us
Located 60 kms north of Darwin, Melville Island Lodge offers guided fishing tours for visitors to exclusively fish the creeks, reefs and waters that surround the Tiwi Islands.
About the role
As the skipper of a custom-built vessel, you will be taking guests out on guided fishing trips; passing on your knowlege and expertise to provide a great fishing experience.
Who we’re looking for
Our ideal guide will need to be experienced in tropical sports fishing, especially barramundi fishing, and will need to be patient, friendly and customer focussed.
Our team is a jovial bunch that works like a well-oiled machine, so being considerate towards your team mates and having a genuine willingness to help out when needed; is an important element to this role.
What you’ll need
- current coxswains’ license - essential
- current drivers license
- current first aid certificate - essentail
- current police clearance check
- previous fishing tour guide experience, especially with barra fishing.
- good sense of humor
Any mechanical or other trade experience will be advantageous
What’s in it for you
We offer a full-time salary that includes 2 weeks paid mid-season break, and a further 9 weeks paid break for the off season.
All food and non-alcoholic beverages, along with accommodation in a private air-conditioned room, with ensuite and TV is provided.
Flights to and from Darwin and the island, provided.
Important to know
Please Note: You must have a current Coxwains Licence to be considered for this role. Applications that do not have this qualifitcation will not be accepted.
Our season runs for 10 months of the year, and we usually work a 10 on/4 off roster.
Staff are required to live on-site for the duration of the work swing; so CAREFUL CONSIDERATION MUST be given to the reality of living in a remote location, as the isolation is not for everyone.
