As a Fitter Machinist you will have direct responsibility to undertake mechanical maintenance and tool setting tasks in the Wetherill Park factory to allow the efficient production of high quality rail braking components.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with and support of HSE & Quality practices in accordance with company policy.
- Conduct the overhaul, repair, modification and/or test of factory equipment.
- Conduct and/or participate in the troubleshooting of machinery faults, investigations and inspections.
- Participate in the fabrication and/or installation of new factory equipment.
- Conduct tool setting operations to help meet the requirements of the production schedule.
- Escalate to the Engineering or Production personnel any safety, quality, process or technical issues that arise as appropriate.
- Make recommendations to Engineering or Production personnel any safety, quality, process or technical improvement ideas.
- Support other Maintenance and Production team members with any relevant production process, procedures, and technical knowledge to support the achievement of production team goals.
- Actively participate in team meetings and training.
- Ensure the working environment is always maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Clean, store & maintain tooling, plant & equipment to ensure proper and safe functioning.
- Comply with and support of continuous improvement, lean and 5S initiatives.
- Take ownership of responsibilities and actively contribute towards the achievement of production performance goals, delivery timeframes and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willing to work outside or beyond normal hours to support production requirements.
Essential Experience
- Certificate 3 in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or higher.
- Two years or more trade experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to weld, mill/drill/turn and perform fabrication and assembly of machinery.
- Forklift license, First Aid certificate, Confined Spaces trained.
- Tool setting experience (training and support provided for industry specific techniques).
