We have a great opportunity for a Fitter Operator (with fitter abilities) to join Cargill's established oilseed Crush facility in Newcastle with a long-term career. We are seeking a fitter or equivalent trade for this operator role as breakdown maintenance and mechanical problem-solving skills are required. Site specific equipment training will be provided to the successful applicant.
As part of a small and autonomous team, you will be responsible for maintaining optimum asset health for plant equipment, systems and structures. Providing a diverse work environment, you will work independently on individual assignments and support on larger cross team projects, with the opportunity to learn and support across all plant areas.
This role operates on 14 shifts per 28 day cycle (4 on 5 off, 5 on 4 off) on a set lifestyle roster. Overtime is also often available from supervisor. Super and public holiday rates apply.
Principal Accountabilities
- Operate and maintain the seed processing facility in a safe, efficient and result oriented manner.
- Perform maintenance repair in order to ensure peak operational performance of the production facility.
- Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to food safety and quality management.
To be successful you will require:
- Fitter or equivalent trade qualification.
- Experience in a manufacturing and process environments particularly food and beverage desirable (but not essential).
- Basic computer literacy.
- Hold forklift and elevated work platform Operator certificate of competency or obtain one within 3 months of the appointment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, use knowledge and initiative to problem solve promptly.
