Fitters And Heavy Vehicle Mechanics

The Company:

Howard Porter is a well established family owned company that is currently experiencing growth and is looking for great candidates to join our team. Howard Porter designs and builds quality transport equipment for the mining, resources and transport industries.

The Company is currently seeking an experienced Fitters and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics with knowledge and experience of brakes, hydraulics, and/or auto electrics and located at our manufacturing workshop in Spearwood WA. 

Hydraulics: 

• Fit hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic hoses and hydraulic fittings to semi tipping trailers
• Make hydraulic hoses and hydraulic pipes and fit to equipment
• Fit hydraulic cylinders, PTO, pump, valves, hoses and fittings to new/ used trucks
• Fit pneumatic brake kits to semi trailers. Air tanks, brake valves, brake boosters, air hose's and fittings
• Fit hydraulic and brake systems on trucks and trailers for correct operation.

Auto Electrics and General Fit: 

• Fit electrical harness, lights, plugs and sockets to new semi trailers
• Fit cab switch controls and wiring to truck dashboard to operate tipping equipment and accessories.
• Fit lights and electrics to new truck bodies

Best to Have:

It is beneficial that the successful candidate have;

• A trades certificate and/or good experience in mechanics, fitting, heavy plant, automotive or similar,
• Available now or at short notice,
• Experience working with Truck Trailers and Side Tippers will be beneficial.

Beneficial to have: 

• At least 2 years experience in similar role,
• Knowledge of general mechanics,
• Knowledge of Heavy Vehicles and/or plant equipment,
• Knowledge hydraulic & automotive electrical systems,
• Some experience in fault finding
• Have the ability to learn correct procedures & processes,
• Good working knowledge of OS&H and Environmental practices
