About the Role

SeaLink Rottnest & Captain Cook Cruises, Perth's leading Cruise Company and part of the Kelsian Group Limited - SeaLink Marine & Tourism, is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, the Fleet Maintenance Manager supports the operation of SeaLink WA’s vessel operations by ensuring the business’ vessels, plant, equipment, and assets are maintained to a high standard to deliver safe, reliable, compliant and efficient vessel services.

This is a leadership position requiring a high level of interpersonal skill, business acumen, financial understanding, Fleet Maintenance experience and project management capabilities to ensure success. Providing leadership to the workshop team and marine crews in the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance services and responsible for fostering a culture of respect between the staff and pride in the workplace. 

The position leads, plans and prioritizes to effectively:

  • deliver on our commitment to health, safety and reliability,
  • coordinate maintenance activities and contractors,
  • develop and implement proactive preventative maintenance programs,
  • maintain accurate records of maintenance, spares, and budget expenditure,
  • respond to and rectify any emerging issues,
  • eliminate unplanned downtime and effectively manage operational costs.

A key outcome of this role is to ensure we continue to offer faultless, reliable on-time running aboard the highest quality vessels, to our customers.

You will also work closely with Operations Manager to ensure that we are setting new standards in operational excellence.

About You

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and develop maintenance programs (1 and 7 year).
  • Establishes priorities and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of computer literacy including the use of Microsoft software and maintenance programs/systems.
  • Analytical and budgetary skills and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Achievement and results driven

We will need you to have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Hold a trade qualification; diesel fitter, mechanical, electrical, or relevant trade/industry qualification. MED 1 or higher marine qualification (desirable).
  • Working within confined spaces ticket.
  • Working at heights ticket
  • Electrical test and Tag ticket.
  • Extensive maintenance management & planning experience.
  • Extensive experience managing operational maintenance budgets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with marine vessel machinery, including marine diesel engines, generators, gearboxes, hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the legislative requirements that govern vessel and workshop operations including the NSCV and WH&S legislation.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel fitting and turning.
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and air conditioning systems.
