Job Summary

As an Fleet Maintenance Technician within Swissport Australia, you'll be at the heart of ensuring the smooth operation of our ground support equipment and aviation-related electrical components. Your role involves utilizing your technical expertise to repair and maintain a diverse range of equipment, contributing to the seamless functioning of Swissport's services. Working closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the GSE fleet network. Your responsibilities encompass regular maintenance, repair, and rapid response to breakdowns, ultimately contributing to the efficient operations of airports.

Your activities 

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet.
  • Perform repairs and troubleshoot issues with automotive electrical systems to maintain proper functionality.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and address failures efficiently, utilizing your automotive electrical expertise.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment operation and automotive electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in equipment testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including fellow technicians, supervisors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automotive electrical systems and maintenance practices.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment maintenance logs and repair documentation.
  • Order and manage spare parts and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels for maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Conduct Quality Inspections on assets returning from maintenance providers.

Your Profile

  • Proven experience working with diesel engines, heavy plant equipment, including hydraulic control systems and PLCs, within an automotive context.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Aviation industry is preferred, particularly in ground support equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Extensive background in heavy vehicle and/or automotive fleet management, including lifecycle costing and effective parts and supplier management.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and deep understanding of automotive electrical systems and their operation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative in automotive electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Maximo) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to company IT systems.
