AMSL Aero Pty Ltd is a start-up Australian aviation company, incorporated in 2017. We are developing Vertiia, the world’s most efficient and long range hydrogen Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Vertiia will be used initially in aeromedical, regional passenger and cargo operations, providing emissions-free, safe, low cost and fast transport up to 1000 km. We are based airside at Bankstown Airport, and our Flight Test facilities are located in regional New South Wales.
We are currently growing our team and have an opportunity available for an experienced Flight Test Engineer. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating our Flight Test operations and ensuring that all Flight Test operations are conducted in a safe and timely manner.
About the role
- Prepare ground and Flight Test plans
- Complete risk assessments for test activities
- Interface with AMSL management, engineering, maintenance and commercial representatives
- Support execution of Flight Testing
- Test Management
- Monitor instrumentation
- Collect data
- Inform future Flight Test resource requirements
- Determine and document aircraft installation and avionics integration requirements for Flight Test aircraft
- Develop and maintain processes for aircraft configuration control
- Ensure that test planning requirements have been met
- On-site test management, including briefing, debriefing, and configuration control
- Collect and perform initial test data analysis for the system under test and provide recommendations for improvements
- Prior knowledge of CASA regulations
About you
- Engineering degree is a must.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Flight Test Engineer or in a similar role
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the working year to support Flight Test conduct
- Experience with telemetry room operations and CRM/NTS conventions
- Experience with Flight Test aircraft configuration management
- Experience with civil or military regulatory requirements for Flight Test (i.e. Experimental Certificate, MPTF, FTP)
- Diverse experience in VTOL performance and handling qualities, fixed wing performance and handling qualities, and systems testing
- Experience with UAS operation and testing
- Experience with Part 23 and/or Part 27 certification testing
- Experience with IADS real time telemetry or equivalent
- Proficient with data analysis tools such as Matlab or Python
Competitive remuneration is on offer.
The role will be based in Bankstown airport, but travel to regional NSW for testing will be required on a regular basis.
