Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Wall and Floor Tiler specialising in floor tiles and terrazzo. An extensive history
in these trades as well as strong knowledge on polished concrete, floor preparation for tiles and other overlays including floor coatings is also necessary. In this role, you will be responsible for running your own jobs while also
overseeing other teams across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional craftsmanship, and a proven track
record of delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of own projects from start to finish, including floor preparation, installation of marble, ceramic, clay and glass floor tiles, terrazzo, polished concrete, and other overlays.
· Overseeing other teams across multiple projects, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards and in accordance with project timelines.
· Providing guidance and direction to team members, including apprentices and junior tradesmen. · Conducting site assessments and preparing work plans to ensure efficient project execution.
· Communicating effectively with clients, project managers, and other employees to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the course of a project.
· Recognise the importance of health safety; leading by example and being vigilant of all non-compliance from our workers. Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
· Reading and following site plans to strategize and mark out work areas onsite. · Floor preparation: Ability to complete and direct other to do the following: Floor levelling, concrete grinding, removal of existing tiles, grout and adhesive as well as other floor coverings to make good for resurfacing as well as patching and slab rectification work.
· Selecting and applying correct adhesives, primers, grouts, sealers, patching fills and waterproof membranes based on project and other factors that could influence the performance of each product.
· Selecting and safely using tile and concrete cutting tools effectively and with precision to suit the parameters and plans of the project. · Keen eye for detail when spacing and aligning tiles and all floor finishes up to existing finishes.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in floor tile installation, terrazzo, polished concrete, and floor preparation for tiles, coatings and other floor overlays/finishes.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellent results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, project managers, and product manufacturers/distributors.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Relevant trade qualifications and/or certifications.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to relevant health and safety regulations.
