Thiess is seeking an experienced FMSAuto Electrician for a permanent employment opportunity working on our Caval Ridge coal mining project. Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, the mine is located 6km south-east of Moranbah in the Bowen Basin.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, install, and maintain various Industrial Network, microwave, WIFI and wireless systems.
• Perform the servicing, repair, and maintenance of the following systems:

• Digital Radio Communication System (DMR)
• Autonomous Fleet Management Networks, Systems maintenance, and support
• LTE network maintenance
• CCTV system installation and support
• Site telecommunications
• Work safely and comply with the Site Safety Health and Management System
• Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of equipment non-conformance, identify and record any equipment quality problems, initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
• Be able to work in accordance with the site's procedures.
• Respond to breakdowns on site Fleet Management Systems, GPS and communication networks.
• Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM, and computer-based systems
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are always maintained.
• Conduct required inspections to maximise equipment utilization.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential to be considered for these opportunities you are required to have:

• Tertiary qualification, Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent
• Trade Qualification or equivalent experience in communications, electrotechnology, or digital radio field.
• 2-3 years post-trade experience working in the mining and heavy earth moving industry, or hydraulic excavator industry.
• Experience in supporting Digital Trunked Radio Systems (TETRA, DMR, P25), including server support and maintenance.
• Experience in configuration of Cisco and Moxa equipment, fault diagnosis, and rectification of IP networks.
• Experience using Fleet Management and GPS systems.
• Strong knowledge of RF, Wireless fundamentals, and antenna systems
• Ability to effectively problem solve, diagnose, and resolve.
• Ability to work a 7/7 roster.
• C Class driver’s licence

Desirable but not essential:

• Configuration and installation of wireless PTP microwave links
• Previous experience with installation and maintenance of CCTV systems
• Experience in configuring and maintaining network monitoring tools
• Experience with the below systems would be highly regarded:
  • Ivolve FMS
  • Terrain drill profiling data capture with GPS correction
  • Mine 4D
  • Wenco and Carlson HPGS
  • DSS Fatigue monitoring
  • Hexagon Fatigue monitoring
  • Mi-Blast
