ABOUT THE ROLE
To support the chef with all the food preparation and food delivery functions.
As a Food and Domestic Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Meal Preparation Assistance: Support the kitchen team in preparing and serving nutritious meals for our residents.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the kitchen and food preparation areas meet high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This includes washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Stock Management: Assist in managing inventory, including receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies. Monitor and replenish kitchen supplies as needed.
- Special Dietary Needs: Work closely with the kitchen staff to accommodate special dietary requirements for residents, following specific guidelines.
- Collaborate with Care Staff: Communicate effectively with care staff to understand the unique needs and preferences of residents, ensuring a personalized approach to meal service.
- Follow Health and Safety Standards: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, especially those related to food handling, storage, and sanitation.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, preferably in an aged care setting.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, especially when interacting with elderly residents.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
